Brainstorm
Our minds are in constant negotiation—between impulse and control, intuition and logic, emotion and analysis. While the idea of a strictly divided brain has been challenged by modern neuroscience, the tension between rational thought and emotional instinct remains central to human experience.
Brainstorm explores this internal struggle through a series of ceramic sculptures, visualizing the dynamic interplay between cognitive control and emotional impulse. Some forms appear fluid and organic, reflecting the unpredictability of emotions, while others are structured, resembling neural pathways and the architecture of thought itself. The variation in textures, colors, and materiality—ranging from deep blues and turquoises to raw, earthy tones—mirrors the duality of order and chaos within the mind.
Neuroscientific research suggests that decision-making is not purely logical but deeply influenced by emotions. The prefrontal cortex, responsible for reasoning and self-control, is constantly in dialogue with the limbic system, which drives our desires and instincts. This tension shapes our actions, often in ways we don’t consciously realize.
Why don’t we do the things we know we should?
Because we don’t feel like it.
